Matribhasha Diwas Celebration

Matribhasha Diwas was celebrated at St. John International School in honour of the Marathi language and in keeping with the birth anniversary of Dyanpeeth award winner poet late V.V. Shirwadkar alias Kusumagraj.
Marathi being the official language of the State of Maharashtra, a special assembly was conducted with an aim to promote the Marathi culture among the young St. Johnites. The assembly commenced with inauguration by the head of the institution, Principal, Sr. Apoline Pais. Thereafter, Constitution’s Preamble was read in Matribhasha, Marathi. The students presented a vibrant Koli live dance and melodious Marathi songs. Mrs. Vishakha More, Marathi teacher, recited a beautiful poem “Kana”. Apart from the celebration students of Grade I to VIII also participated in the various categories like:
i. Poem Recitation Competition – Grade I
ii. Marathi Handwriting Competition – Grade II & III
iii. Quiz Competition – Grade IV & V
iv. Essay Writing Competition in Marathi – Grade VI & VII
v. Debate Competition – Grade VIII
